If a system labels him only as a "high-net-worth male" and recommends products on that basis, serious mismatches result.

The result: This service eliminated the key anxiety-driven resistance, and the customer placed the order immediately — even without a price discount.
Insight: Sometimes the cheapest way to drive growth isn't adding product features (pull) — it's removing some small anxiety or habit-based resistance.
3.2 The Big Hire vs. the Little Hire
The relationship between a customer and a product unfolds in two stages, and understanding this distinction is critical to retention.

Once a job has been clearly defined, how do you communicate the requirements to the R&D team? A traditional "product requirements document" (PRD) tends to just list features. JTBD recommends using a "Job Spec" instead, which includes the following elements:

Calling back within 10 minutes caught the customer at the peak moment of "push," dramatically boosting conversion.

When a brand becomes perfectly bound to a specific "job to be done," it becomes a purpose brand.
